Western Union, MoneyGram and Others To Pay Nigerians In Naira Instead Of Dollars.

Instead of paying beneficiaries in dollars or other foreign currencies as they did in the past, International Money Transfer Operators (IMTOs) would instead pay Nigerian Beneficiaries in naira. In accordance with the new rule, banks would pay beneficiaries in Nigerian Naira for foreign money transfers made through IMTOs rather than in dollars, pounds, euros, or other currencies. According to AFRICAN Siri, the new regulation, which is based on a mandate from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has an impact on IMTOs including MoneyGram, Western Union, Ria, and rapid transfer. The CBN directive, dated January 31, 2024, states that all in-bound money transfers to Nigeria (through the aforementioned IMTOS) must be made in Naira using a bank account or in cash at the going rate in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market. This information is based on a recent notice from Ecobank Nigeria. This platform is aware that the action is a component of the CBN's attempts to stabilise the

AFCON 2023: Broos struggles to accept South Africa’s semi-final defeat to Nigeria.

Image
Hugo Broos, the manager of South Africa, believes it is hard to accept that Bafana Bafana lost to Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal. The Super Eagles were under pressure at times from the 1996 AFCON champions, but they were unable to capitalise as the match finished 1-1 in both regular and extra time, with Grant Kekana being sent off in the latter. In the shootout that decided the match, Stanley Nwabali of Nigeria saved two penalties from South Africa, which made Broos regret his team's wasted opportunities. Football can be difficult at times, as demonstrated by my team's play. When penalties are called against you and you lose, it can be difficult to accept that you won't be playing in the championship, Broos said. "I believe that we were the better team in the first half; Nigeria had no opportunity and we had the greatest opportunities. They had a few chances in the second half that ended in a goal, but we made a tactical adjustment that

AFCON 2023: Why Jean-Louis Gasset won’t get a medal with Ivory Coast.

Image
In 2023, the French coach Jean-Louis Gasset will not receive a medal for the success of Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions department has stated that Gasset will not be able to add more coaching accomplishments to his resume due to the mutual termination of his contract during the group stage. Gasset guided the Elephants to victory in the domestic championship, but he was eliminated after the group stage owing to subpar play. With three points from three games, the Elephants finished third in Group A under the 70-year-old's leadership. He led them to a run of two wins and two losses. After Ivory Coast's final group match on January 22 ended in a humiliating 4-0 loss to Equatorial Guinea, the Ivorian Football Federation dissolved their relationship with Gasset. Emerse Fae, his assistant, took his place and is currently leading the Elephants into the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final. In the final on Sunda

Almost 3,000 years ago, some ethnic tribes left the Nile valley to dwell in the hilly regions of West Africa, including the DOGON people. This captured the tribal nationality's traditional way of life, which is now a part of Mali ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฑ.  The Bandiagara area was home to the Dogan people's early settlements. Last month, Geingob—who was in the midst of his second term as president—disclosed that he was undergoing cancer treatment. The statement on X, formerly Twitter, written by acting president Nangolo Mbumba said, "It is with utmost sadness and regret that I inform you that our beloved Dr. Hage G. In January, after a normal check-up, a biopsy had shown "cancerous cells," according to what Geingob's office stated at the time.
